Commitments and delivery
Accepting a proposal creates a commitment: a promise to deliver, pinned to the exact revision the team agreed to. You can always recover what you agreed to, word for word.
What happens at acceptance
Section titled “What happens at acceptance”In the same moment the proposal is accepted:
- the commitment is created, with status not started;
- the proposal’s items enter the model as active: the direction or capability, and a constraint item for each boundary.
The team agreed to the text, and that text is what enters the model. Nobody re-keys it.
Delivering
Section titled “Delivering”A commitment moves forward in two explicit steps on the Commitments page:
- Start delivery: status becomes in delivery.
- Verify: someone confirms the outcome. Status becomes verified, and the commitment’s still-active items become delivered.
Work that was done but never verified changes nothing about what the model says the product is. Agreed is not the same as delivered, and the model keeps the two apart.
Any project member can start and verify a commitment.
Nothing is cancelled
Section titled “Nothing is cancelled”A commitment is never deleted or abandoned. If the team changes its mind, a new commitment replaces it. The old commitment keeps whatever status it had, as historical fact.
- Items from the replaced commitment that were promised but never delivered are withdrawn in the same step, because they could never be verified.
- Items already delivered stay, until something replaces them explicitly.
- Only a project owner or organization admin can replace a commitment.
When an accepted proposal changed a capability, the new commitment’s panel shows The commitment it replaces: what replacing it takes out of the model and what stays.
Retiring something
Section titled “Retiring something”Retiring part of the product is itself a decision. Propose “retire X”, gain consent, start the resulting commitment, replace X with it, and verify. A verification that adds nothing new is allowed for exactly this.
Directions
Section titled “Directions”A direction is never withdrawn. It is completed when its delivery is verified, or replaced by a newer direction, which its capabilities then follow.
